NBC News’ Tom Brokaw has today said his cancer is in remission.

“A year ago my future was more uncertain than I cared to acknowledge but now I face the New Year with very encouraging news,” said Brokaw, who presented “NBC Nightly News” from 1982 to 2004.

He said that he will soon begin a drug regimen to keep the cancer in remission.

Brokaw, who is now 74, revealed in February that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer that attacks bone marrow.

He currently serves as NBC News’ special correspondent.
