The final 16 X Factor contestant’s will this year release a cover of Rose Royce’s ‘Wishing On A Star’, with proceeds going to ACT & Children’s Hospices UK.
X Factor boss Simon Cowell said: “Having worked closely with this charity and seen the amazing work it does for kids and their families, I am thrilled that the X Factor single will help them.”
This is the fourth year the X Factor has produced a charity single — In 2010 the contestant’s released a version of David Bowie’s Heroes for Help For Heroes.
2009 saw a cover of Michael Jackson’s You Are Not Alone for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.
And Mariah Carey’s Hero was the 2008 charity single for Help For Heroes.
Barbara Gelb from the charity said: “The money raised from this single gives us the opportunity to improve the lives of these children and families – and crucially raise awareness of the valuable support they need, wherever they live and for as long as they need it.
“Every single bought, either on line or through the high street, will make such a difference.”
The finalists will record the song in London this week and will be released as a download on 19th November and then fully the day after.
