A 35-year-old man has been arrested after a headless torso feared to be the former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie was dragged from a canal in east London.
Friends and family of the EastEnders star are fearing for her safety after she went missing four days ago.
Gemma, who starred in the BBC One soap as Kerry Skinner back in 2000/2001, went missing from Bethnal Green, East London on Thursday 1st March.
A Metropolitan spokesman said: “A body was found in Regents Canal near Broadway Market in East London at 2:40pm.
“Enquiries are underway to establish the identity of the deceased. A post-mortem will be scheduled to ascertain the cause of death.
“Pending that post mortem we will be treating the death as unexplained.”
Gemma is described as 5ft 1ins with straight black hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a cream-coloured top, blue leggings, and sandy coloured Ugg boots.
