After fulfilling her lifelong dream of winning a bronze medal at this year’s Olympic Games, British gymnast star, Beth Tweddle, reveals Dancing on Ice is the perfect challenge to fill the void left by taking part in the iconic sporting event.

And Beth, who picked up the bronze in the uneven bars final in London and who is the country’s most decorated GB gymnast in history by holding four world titles, admits she doesn’t know what she would have done if she didn’t have the hit ITV1 programme to train for.

“Dancing on Ice was the perfect timing for me,” says the bubbly sports star. “If I didn’t have this, I am not sure what I would have felt like after the Olympics finished. I am still doing gymnastics but not as much and so this is a great new challenge for me. I need a new challenge. My boyfriend is really pleased I am doing this because he knew it would be difficult for me after training for the Olympics and he likes the fact I do now have something else to focus on.”

But the 27-year-old is keen to stress that far from being at an advantage because she is so supple and used to training hard, she is finding it incredibly tough because ice-skating is the exact opposite to gymnastics.
