The BBC’s [[Roger Johnson]] is to join BBC North West Tonight as [[Gordon Burns]] replacement.
Burns is stepping down from the show after almost 15 years.
Johnson, currently sports presenter on BBC South Today and occasionally presents on the BBC News Channel, will co-present the show alongside [[Ranvir Singh]] from October.
Roger said: “It is both an honour and a daunting prospect to succeed a broadcaster of Gordon’s stature. This is one of the best jobs in regional television and I’m looking forward to returning north and working on one of England’s most varied news agendas.”
Aziz Rashid, head of BBC North West, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Roger to the team and back to the North West. He joins us at a momentous time as the programme moves from its current base in Oxford Road to Salford.”
