ITV news presenter, Katie Derham is leaving ITN to join the BBC.
Katie will present the BBC’s coverage of the Proms for BBC2 and Radio 3. She is also expected to appear on the BBC News channel.
Staff at ITN were told about the move earlier today. One member of staff said on Twitter: “Hearts in ITN newsroom broken.”
Katie, who joined ITN in January 1998 played a key role in ITV?s coverage of the Gulf war conflict, anchoring the ITV Evening News in London as well as several special programmes and open-ended coverage.
Katie reported from constituencies up and down the country during the General Election 2001. Katie also covered the Queen?s Jubilee from the Mall; Edward and Sophie?s wedding; Millennium night at the dome in Greenwich, as well as reporting on the Oscars and Baftas for ITV News.
