GB News has announced it is set to host a televised leadership event between the two final Tory candidates.

Scheduled for October 17th, Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick will battled it out in a prime time debate weeks before the final vote on October 31st.

James Cleverly exited the race this afternoon with 37 MPs backing him, while Badenoch re-established herself as the favourite after picking up 42 votes – one ahead of Jenrick.

GB News Editorial Director Michael Booker said: “We are delighted to be broadcasting this hugely important moment where the country gets to see the final two candidates explain why they should be leader.

“It will be a fascinating evening and pivotal for the future of the Conservative Party – and the UK.”

The new leader will be announced on November 2nd.
