BBC News to launch new daytime schedule

BBC News will introduce a new daytime schedule this week.

The corporation combined its UK and world news channels on Monday 3rd April and told staff not to expect big changes, instead changes were to be phased in over time.

Starting Monday 22nd May 2023

12.00pm – 3.00pm (UK time)

Lucy Hockings will bring viewers the main world news stories. UK viewers will opt-out at 1.00pm for the BBC News and One, and Sportsday.

On Wednesdays, the first hour (12pm) will not be broadcast in the UK due to Prime Ministers Questions.

3.00pm – 6.00pm (UK Time)

Matthew Amroliwala will presents Verified Live. From 5.30pm the programme will be exclusive for UK viewers while World viewers will see Focus on Africa.

6.00pm – 8.00pm (UK Time)

UK viewers will see the BBC News at Six followed by Sportsday, while World will see Yalda Hakim leading the conversation on key global issues, with a new show called The Daily Global.

UK viewers will join the programme from 7.00pm.

8.00pm (UK Time)

The Context will continues as usual.
