BBC News staff to strike

BBC journalists are due to walk out in a row over compulsory redundancies.

The first 24 hour strike is due to take place on Friday 15th July and could affect news on radio, television and online.

Under 40% of NUJ members voted in the ballot, of which 72% voted for industrial action in the row after bosses dismissed a World Service journalist on the grounds of compulsory redundancy.

The BBC and NUJ both said they will continue to hold talks in the hope of averting action.

BBC journalists last went on strike last November in a row over pensions.
