Adam Boulton and Andrew Wilson are at the G8 Summit, and have been live through the day, with Andrew on package.

Alastair Bruce was in the studio commentating on Reagan’s journey from California to Washington, so I presume he will be a feature of Sky’s coverage. BBC have a special programme tonight on BBC and News 24 as Reagan’s coffin arrives in Washington.

Why? This is like flippin’ Stalin!!

And why can’t Andrew Wilson cover it on his own but gets elbowed out by Adam Boulton?

As this is a political story – and Adam is a political expert and Andrew is not.

Well actually. The G8 is a meeting of the leaders of the wealthiest 8 democratic countries in the world. It isn’t a purely political story by any stretchof the imagination.

The reason why Boulton is there is because, quite simply, Blair is there.

Eagleeye makes a good point Andrew Wilson is a good correspondent and could no doubt do a sterling job of covering this event without Adam Bultons presence. On the other hand Adam Boulton is one of Sky News’ biggest assets and an expert on Blair and his government, so quite rightly should be there.

Didn’t mean the G8, I meant Andrew Wilson covering the Reagan funeral/eulogies etc etc.

In that case, Wilson, and Boulton, had very little to do with Reagan coverage. It was mainly Ian Woods.

BTW, Adam Boulton interviewed Tony Blair on Friday evening/afternoon and it was pooled to ITV and BBC.

What a shame. Andrew is always great when let loose on ‘Great American Icons’ (maybe that’s why they gave it to Ian Woods!!??). He talks TGV and has a great way of cutting through the cr*p and making you smile. Nothing against Woodsy, but Mr Wilson does have a way with words. Doesn’t say anything in 10 that he could say in a million.
