Neil Connery ITV News Reporter

Neil Connery is a UK Based Correspondent for ITV News.

Previously Neil was Africa correspondent and before that Moscow correspondent, and prior to that a general reporter working on ITV’s daytime and weekend news programmes, a role he took up in April 1998.

Neil first joined ITN in a freelance capacity in 1996. He was involved in ITV News’s coverage of the 1997 General Election, the death of Princess Diana, the aftermath of the Drumcree march as well as events in Albania, Belgrade and Israel.

He became a staff reporter in April 1998 and covered the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland and the downfall of President Suharto in Indonesia.

Neil began his career in 1992 as a reporter on the Bournemouth Evening Echo.

In 1993 he moved to Westcountry Television as a producer, subsequently becoming a reporter there in 1994. He covered crime stories including the Lyme Bay Canoe tragedy trial, and special reports from HMS Invincible off the coast of the former Yugoslavia.

As a freelance journalist, Neil has also worked for Sky News reporting on the lorry drivers’ blockade at Dover and the release of the Bridgewater Three among other stories.

He has a BA (Hons) degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of York. Neil is the youngest of six children and was brought up in Hayes, Middlesex.
