Huw Edwards

Huw Edwards – born 18 August 1961 – is a former presenter on the BBC.

Huw has been a journalist for more than 40 years, and has hosted some of the BBC’s biggest outside broadcasts, including Royal Weddings, the Inauguration of President Obama, the main ceremonies at the Olympic Games, and the Commonwealth Games.

He also presented coverage of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and the main ceremonies at London 2012.

Huw has been the BBC’s voice at Trooping the Colour, the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, and the State Opening of Parliament.

He has presented many Budget and Election specials. Edwards succeeded David Dimbleby as the host of BBC election night coverage and was the lead presenter for the 2019 general election coverage on 12th and 13th December.

Huw is married to Vicky Flind, a television producer. The couple live in Dulwich, London, and have five children.

He resigned from the BBC in April 2024 on “medical grounds”.
