Former X Factor contestant Kerry McGregor dies, aged 37

Former X Factor contestant Kerry McGregor has died at the age of 37 after a battle with bladder cancer.


Kerry was a finalist in the third series of The X Factor in 2006 and was mentored by Sharon Osbourne. She was eliminated in week three after losing the judges vote to fellow contestant Ashley McKenzie.

Kerry’s management said: “It is with deep sadness we announce that Kerry passed away at home, earlier today following a battle with cancer. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Further details will be released in due course.”

The Scottish singer-songwriter and actress began her career performing with bands including Nexus and QFX before appearing on the BBC television show to select the UK´s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Former X Factor mentor Sharon Osbourne tweeted: “So sad about Kerry McGregor’s passing. Much love and respect to her and her family.”
