How did you get started in broadcasting?
As a graduate, job offered at BBC Hereford and Worcester as a reporter after placement on degree course.

When was that?
1990

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
Various local radio stations, currently Today, Heaven and Earth, as well as BBC World and BBC1 bulletins.

What is your Best on-air moment?
Grabbing Kelly Holmes for a live interview the second that London was awarded the olympics, she was in floods of tears.

What is your Worst on-air moment?
Doing a 2-way as a correspondent in Manchester with a presenter back in the studio on Six O’clock News. I finished my bit, but the guest for the next item didn’t appear, so they came back to me and asked me a series of questions on a subject for which I had no information. I aged about 10 years in 2 minutes, but I think I got away with it!

What would you like to do before your career ends?
Cover the London Olympics – and hopefully the one after that!

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Currently running – training for the London Marathon.

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Don’t give up. Volunteer to make the tea and be prepared to work for free to get your foot in the door.
