How did you get started in Broadcasting ?
B B C local radio short term contract.

When was that?
1974

Why News broadcasting?
News was all I knew, having spent five years on local papers. Broadcasting? It seemed like an exciting advance from the technology of print.

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
Prior to Sky I worked for TV-am and, previously, Central, in the Midlands.

What is your Best on-air moment?
Reporting live on the fall of the Berlin Wall

What is your Worst on-air moment?
Mangling my own surname during a messy hand back to the studio after a live report during the first Gulf War.

What would you like to do before your career ends?
Same as every journalist I know. File a world exclusive.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Motorcycle.

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Do it and don’t be too proud to start at the bottom. It’s the most fun you can have and still get paid for it.
