I banged on a lot of doors, worked for nothing and wouldnt go away.

Why News broadcasting?
Its about everything Im interested in – people, world events, different places – all mixed with a dash of adrenaline.

Where else would have viewers seen or heard you before?
BBC Radio 4, BBC2 Newsnight, World Service, ABC, CBC (Canada), Al-Arabiyya TV

What is your Best on-air moment?
Sitting on a sand dune in the Emirates at midnight singlehandedly covering the ongoing hijack of an Indian plane for all BBC programmes. I only had one mobile to gather news then broadcast what I was seeing, which thankfully did not involve casuaties.

What is your Worst on-air moment?
Being interviewed by a 5 Live presenter who thought I was the lawyer of a convict.

What would you like to do before your career ends?
Walk again.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Write my first book.

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Have something special to offer, show what you have already done, and always be available.
