Daniel Pallett – Q&A

Name?
Daniel Pallett

Age?
35

Where are you from?
Birmingham

How did you get started in broadcasting?
I began journalism after a chance conversation in a restaurant in Peru! I worked on newspapers for four and a half years before moving to the BBC with radio WM. I later joined Midland Today.

When was that?
January, 2002

Why News broadcasting?
It’s sport which is my passion. Being a reporter/presenter is the next best thing to being a sportsman.

What is your Best on-air moment?
Presenting the sport form a temporary beach at a Worcestershire Twenty20 cricket match.

What is your Worst on-air moment?
My second ever live OB when a group a lads dressed in builders hats and face masks decided to join in uninvited – very distracting!

What would you like to do before your career ends?
Report live from some of the great sporting events such as The Grand National, Wimbledon and the Olympics.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Be with my wife and two small boys. Perfection is a holidaying with them in North Cornwall, driving round in our VW camper van and drinking real ale. (That’s the grown-ups)

What advice would you give to anyone that would like to get into the broadcasting world?
Just go for it. Be persistent, enthusiastic and don’t be put off by the odd knock-back.

A big thanks to Daniel for taking part.
