West Ham, who finished third in the table, just missed out on automatic promotion after Southampton thrashed Coventry 4-0 on the last day of the season to secure second place.
Cardiff were in a last day battle for sixth & final play-off place with Middlesbrough, but finished the season five points clear of The Boro.
This is their 51st meeting spanning 92 years. West Ham have won 26 of the last 50, and Cardiff nine.
Cardiff kicked off the season with a 1-0 win over West Ham at Upton Park, courtesy of a 91st minute winner from Kenny Miller.
