Sky News Wins International Emmy

Sky News has been awarded an International Emmy for its coverage of the migration crisis.

The prestigious award was presented to Sky News during a ceremony in New York recognising News and Current Affairs.

The winning coverage included a report by Special Correspondent, Alex Crawford, which saw her take the perilous journey with a group of migrants from Turkey to Greece; and exclusive insight from the Sky News team, anchored by Colin Brazier, live on the Hungary-Serbia border, as refugees and riot police clashed.

“This award is recognition, on a global scale, for a truly human story that stretched from the depths of the Middle East and Africa to the western fringes of Europe,” said John Ryley, Head of Sky News.

“Sky News’ success is testament to the bravery, commitment, ingenuity and empathy of our journalists and is reward for creative and bold thinking.”

Presenter Colin Brazier and Cameraman Garwen McLuckie collected the award on behalf of the channel.

The channel beat off competition from Al Jazeera, Russia Today and Brazilian broadcaster Globo TV in the same category.

Earlier this year, Sky News was awarded RTS News Channel of the Year for a record tenth time.
