The curtain-raiser to the 2012 Ryder Cup will take place this evening from the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois.

Sky Sports 1 will be on air from 9pm with live coverage of the opening ceremony of the biennial competition between Europe and the USA, as the two teams arrive at the course.

The players are sure to be feeling the nerves by now, but this evening represents one final chance for them to relax before the real action gets under way.

At the end of the ceremony, team captains Davis Love III and Jose Maria Olazabal will announce their pairings for tomorrow’s foursomes.

Sky Sports will have exclusive live coverage across all three days (Friday-Sunday), while the BBC will offer nightly highlights at the end of each day’s play.
