
The 39th edition of the Ryder Cup will take place from the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois from Friday 28th – Sunday 30th September 2012.
This is the first time that the event will be held in Illinois, and will see team captain Davis Love III for the USA take on José María Olazábal for Europe.
The Ryder Cup is a match play competition, with each match worth one point. The competition format will be as follows:
Day 1, Friday – 4 foursome (alternate shot) matches in the morning session and 4 fourball (better ball) matches in the afternoon session.
Day 2, Saturday – 4 foursome matches in the morning session and 4 fourball matches in the afternoon session.
Day 3, Sunday – 12 singles matches.
Europe are the current holder of the Ryder Cup, having defeated the USA by 14½ points to 13½ in the 2010 competition at Celtic Manor Resort, Wales.

TV Coverage
Sky Sports will have exclusive live coverage across all three days, while the BBC will offer nightly highlights at the end of each day’s play.
Butch Harmon and Colin Montgomerie will join David Livingstone, who will present Sky Sports’ live coverage from a studio located at the Medinah Country Club.
Commentary will come from Ewen Murray and Bruce Critchley, with on-course reporting from Howard Clark and Tim Barter.
On Saturday and Sunday morning, Sarah Stirk and David Howell will present the Ryder Cup Breakfast Show, reviewing the previous day’s play and taking a look ahead to the day’s action.
Sky’s coverage will begin with the opening ceremony and preview show on Thursday evening at 9pm on Sky Sports 1.
Over on the BBC, Hazel Irvine will present nightly highlights of the 2012 Ryder Cup on BBC Two, with commentary from Peter Alliss, Ken Brown and Nick Faldo, with on-course reports from Rishi Persad.
