The 2012/13 Barclays Premier League season begins today with seven fixtures taking place.
Tottenham Hotspur will travel to the Sports Direct Arena to take on Newcastle United.
The match presents new Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas with a testing first league match at the helm while Magpies chief Alan Pardew will want to send a signal that last season’s fifth-place was not a one-off.
Tottenham have failed to win their last six league matches away to Newcastle.
Their last Premier League victory on Tyneside came on 21 August 2004, when Thimothee Atouba got the only goal. They also won a League Cup tie there in September 2008.
The sides last met on 12 February, when Spurs won 5-0 at White Hart Lane to inflict the heaviest defeat of Alan Pardew’s reign.
The match will broadcast live on ESPN from 4.30pm, kick-off 5.30pm.
