The Premier League Champions and the UEFA Champions League winners are in action today as the first Sky Sports Super Sunday of the season hits the airwaves.
After Wigan Athletic take on Chelsea, Southampton travel to Manchester City for their first top flight game since 2005.
All the action is live from the Etihad Stadium, where City begin their defence of the Premier League title.
Southampton earned their second consecutive promotion last term after finishing second in the Championship, but face a daunting task this afternoon against opponents who dropped just two points at home in the league last season.
The Saints have only lost one of their last five Premier League games away to City, winning three times.
The last top-flight match between the sides came on New Year’s Day 2005, when Paul Bosvelt opened the scoring in a 2-1 win for City.
The build up is live on Sky Sports 1 from 3.30pm, kick-off 4pm. The match will also broadcast in Sky 3D.
