Live Coverage of Six Nations Rugby 2012 on the BBC

The BBC will bring viewers live action from the 2012 Six Nations, offering comprehensive multi-platform coverage of the entire Championship.

Live coverage starts today (Saturday 4 February), with France v Italy (kick-off 2:30pm) and Scotland v England (kick-off 5pm), both on BBC One and BBC One HD.

John Inverdale will present the BBC’s coverage, along with Gabby Logan and Jason Mohammed. Commentary comes from Eddie Butler, Andrew Cotter and Alastair Eykyn, with Jonathan Davies, Phillip Matthews, Brian Moore and Andy Nicol as co-commentators.

Wales rugby legend Shane Williams joins the BBC team this year and will be offering expert insight and analysis on three of Wales’ matches. He adds to the already expert analyst line-up of Jonathan Davies, Jeremy Guscott, Andy Nicol, Keith Wood and Lawrence Dallaglio.

The pitchside reporting team includes Jill Douglas, Sonja McLaughlan and Graham Thomas.

Every game of the tournament will be shown live on BBC One and BBC One HD apart from France v Ireland (11 February) and Scotland v France (26 February), which will be broadcast on BBC Two and BBC HD.

“We’re proud to once again bring all the action from the oldest and most-famous international rugby union tournament in the world and we’re delighted to have signed a new rights agreement to broadcast the event through to 2017,” said Carl Hicks, BBC Six Nations Rugby Union editor.

“Last year over 32 million people tuned in to the tournament, which shows how much audiences across the UK love the Six Nations as it continues to excite and entertain.”

A 45 mins highlights programme will be available post-match, replayed on the red button and also available on the BBC iPlayer.

All matches will also be live on Radio 5 live or 5 live sports extra, streamed live on the new BBC Sport website and will be available on BBC iPlayer for up to a week after the live fixture.

Were enjoying the match and the commentary and was pleased when a commmentator apologised for swearing heard over the referee’s microphone. Then half way through the second half at full voice from the commentator he blasphemed by using the name of Jesus when a Scottish player went down apparently injured. This is a game viewed by families and blasphemy is as bad and in some cases worse than swearing, for the sake of children watching the matches this should be strongly discouraged. We personally hold the name of Jesus high in our faith and were offended by it’s use in this way, we did not expect this from the normally high calibre of BBC presenters complaining regretfully  Paul and Janet Silabon

bian moores commentary on englands win was very poor we know that  the team of 20   12 is far superior to moores day . Moores comments against Enland made me wonder  what tarten he wore BBC please look at whom you employ.

Please, can anyone tell me how to watch ruby games from France on Internet ? I am just tired to listen to an unskilled journalist. This week end games were just fantastic.

please tell me i’m not the only one that thinks Eddie Butler is a plonker. It amazes me that no matter how well Wales play he is always putting them down. He made a comment about how we are the worst team for losing points when we lose a player and really made a point of it especially when Ireland scored but didn’t comment on the fact that we scored right at the end of the sin binning. Its time Mr Butler lived in England as there is no way is he a true welsh man, go back to your real home and stop commenting on our great team.

I think life has moved on these days when it comes to blaspheming. The TV/radio protects you from what you would get from attending live matches – just be happy that the commentator chose your faith to make reference to. God also got a mention in the national anthems which I am sure will offend some people so there is no pleasing everybody
