Promoted Huddersfield will travel to the Cardiff City Stadium to take on last season’s play-off finalist, Cardiff.
The bluebirds will begin this season with high hopes of earning promotion to the Premier League after finishing sixth last season, while the Terriers will be aiming to consolidate their position in this league after winning the League One play-offs last season.
This is the 66th meeting of these clubs over 91 years. Huddersfield lead by 29 wins to 18.
Their most recent meeting was in the second round of the League Cup in August 2011, when Cardiff won 5-3, having been taken to extra time.
Huddersfield won the last league clash 1-0 in January 2003 in West Yorkshire. The Bluebirds had prevailed 4-0 a month earlier on their own ground.
Simon Thomas will host the coverage alongside Peter Beagrie live on Sky Sports 1 from 7.30pm tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.
