Great Britain’s Andy Murray aims to clench his first Grand Slam title this evening when he takes on the world number two Novak Djokovic in the U.S. Open 2012 Final.
The Serbian defeated Spain’s Rafael Nadal in four sets last year to win this title for the first time in his career and avenge his loss at the hands of Nadal 12 months earlier.
This isn’t the first time Andy has made the final of this competition. In 2008, his first grand slam final, he lost the championship match to Roger Federer 2-6 5-7 2-6.
He would then lost again to Federer at the 2010 Australian Open final, and then again a year later to Djokovic.
Andy’s fourth stab at a Grand Slam title came at this year’s Wimbledon, but once again, the mighty Roger Federer proved too much for Murray. Andy would go on to avenge his loss by beating the Swiss in the London Olympics 2012 gold medal match a few weeks later.
Coverage of the U.S Open 2012 final will begin on Sky Sports 1 at 8pm, the match is scheduled to start at 9pm UK time.
