Keys, Gray Removed From MNF

Sky Sports has removed Richard Keys and Andy Gray from presenting tonight’s Monday Night Football following their sexist remarks about female assistant referee Sian Massey during Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Wolves.

Caught by an off-air microphone before the game, Keys said: “Somebody better get down there and explain offside to her [Massey].” Gray replied: “Women don’t know the offside rule.”

Sky Sports managing director Barney Francis said: “I have spoken directly to both Richard Keys and Andy Gray this morning. It has been made clear to each of them that their comments were totally unacceptable.

“Those views are inexcusable, entirely inconsistent with our ethos as a business and employer and will rightly offend many of our customers, our people and the wider public.

“They are inexcusable from anyone at Sky, regardless of their role or seniority.

“We have dealt with this matter by taking immediate disciplinary action.”

Monday Night Football will start at 7:30pm instead of 7pm tonight presented by David Jones at the Reebok Stadium.
