Karin Giannone is a relief presenter on the BBC News Channel. She presents overnight bulletins as well as filling in at other times through the week.
Karin has a firm footing in television news, weather and sport. Brought up in Kent, she came to the Anglia region as a student at Cambridge University where she gained a first class honours degree in modern languages – she speaks French, German and Italian – and was editor of the university’s Varsity magazine in 1994.
Later that year her language and broadcasting skills helped her land a high-profile role as a sports presenter for Channel 4’s Football Italia series, and she enjoyed a memorable season on the vibrant Italian soccer scene. But her real interest remained in news reporting.I always wanted to be a TV reporter and when I was small used to pretend I was Kate Adie,” she says. So she returned to Anglia in 2000 as a presenter and reporter, this time for the programme for the east of the region covering Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, Karin now works for Sky News and after only working a few weeks on the graveyard shift (12am - 6am) Karin can been seen Presenting Live At Five which is Sky’s Flagship Show . Karin lives in Norwich with her husband Neil.
Her interests include horse-riding in the Norfolk countryside, going to the gym a lot, scuba diving, travelling, eating out (especially Indian food) and watching lots of TV, with news, documentaries, and docusoaps her favourite programmes. Karin gave birth to a baby boy on the 23rd of October 2003.
