Huw Edwards currently presents the BBC Ten O’clock News as well as the Five O’clock News on the BBC News Channel each Monday to Thursday.
Huw’s first step on the BBC ladder was when he joined the BBC News trainee scheme in 1984. In 1986, Huw became BBC Wales’s parliamentary correspondent and in 1988 was appointed TV News political correspondent, a role in held for 13 years.
During this time, he has covered many of the centuries major political stories including the downfall of Margaret Thatcher and the rise of New Labour. Huw became a household name from 1999 when he went into the studio, joining the BBC’s Six O’clock News as its main presenter. Huw was on air when BBC One was taken off air by a power failure in 2001. Following the retirement of Michael Buerk, Huw became the main presenter of the Ten O’clock News in January 2003.
Huw is married with five children.
