Dominic Waghorn Sky News

Since joining Sky News in January 2001, Dominic has covered numerous stories across the globe, including the Bingol Earthquake, Turkey, the Iraq War where he reported from the Israel bureau and the NATO deployment to Macedonia – he was even detained live on air during Robert Mugabe’s controversial visit to Paris in February 2003.

UK assignments have included a special report on the Hutton Inquiry, the security surrounding President Bush’s visit to the UK and the pressure mounting on Tony Blair.

Before joining Sky News Dominic was London Bureau Chief, Television and Radio Correspondent, at FSN broadcast news agency. It was while at FSN that he covered Nelson Mandela’s visit to Beijing in May 1999 when NATO bombed the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade.

He covered the massive demonstrations that were triggered, which saw the western embassies in the City come under siege. He reported on the demonstrations for networks in three continents, including his first report for Sky News.

Before setting up FSN’s London Bureau Dominic was the agency’s North American correspondent, based in Washington. He joined FSN in 1996 from News Direct / LBC radio where he was an editor, producer and news reporter.

Dominic graduated from the University of West of England, Bristol, with a history degree, before completing a Broadcast Journalist Diploma, also at Bristol.

Originally from London, Dominic is married to an actress and jewellery designer.
